The iPhone 5 rumor mill is probably the largest mill in the farm. It has been powered by many media outlet rumors for over a year now. It took about a 1 month break since the release of the iPhone 4S but now its back on, full power. With the release of iOS 5.1 beta to registered developers came a slew potential Apple devices along with it.

The first and some what surprising addition to the Apple family is a rumored iPad 2 running Sprint’s internal radios. When Sprint was said to put all of their apple’s in one bucket with iPhones, we had no idea they were planning on selling the iPad 2 with their own guts inside. It was rumored that they would sell the iPad 2 wifi only version, which any reputable retailer is able to do, just as they did with the Motorola XOOM in select markets.

A document leaked to developers allowed some to dig further in the iOS code. What did they dig up? Reference to not only the iPad 2 for Sprint but none other than the iPhone 5. For what carrier you ask? Not sure about that. This archaeological dig is equivalent to finding a footprint on Mars surface: opening an entire new world of rumors both true and false, to keep iPhone lovers and haters fueled until its impending release (unless Apple pulls a fast one and releases an iPhone 4G-S or something crazy). When will the iPhone 5 be released? What now of the iPad 3? What is iOS 5.1 going to fix? Nobody knows yet. The rumor mill has just started churning so just hop on one of the mill blades and enjoy the ride.
