While some reports have been showing December 8th for the release of the highly anticipated Verizon Galaxy Nexus phone, this leaked document is showing December 11th. While the 8th may still hold true for an actual release date for the main Verizon stores nationwide, the 11th may not be a bad estimate for Best Buy. Inventory documents of these sorts usually have a ‘Street Date’ along with the ‘In Stock Date’, meaning sometimes, like this time, the carrier will release the device first. In this case there isn’t a Street Date for whatever reason. From the looks of it Verizon and Google may be going with a short exclusivity period so Verizon can take advantage of the early adopters that buy within the first few days. With no official announcement yet it seem that Best Buy kept from being the goat that unintentionally leaked a release date of this premium device.
Many people will still take their upgrades to Best Buy because of the ‘no rebate’ advantage they have over their sponsored carriers. If there is a mail-in rebate to be had then this may be to your advantage to wait 3 days. Look at it this way, all the people that may camp outside the Verizon stores will have their device already, leaving Best Buy with next to no wait time. Anyone chomping at the bit for this phone?
