All operating systems have a built in firewall. However, for those of you who haven’t upgraded your firewalls to a more modern and comprehensive type, you may not be aware of the various areas where it can affect your system performance. I’m going to share with you what’s wrong with your firewall.
Viruses – In the past, firewalls were generally created to only block traffic to specific websites that had been banned. This has changed over the years to include not only sites that are banned but also hosts on the internet that don’t really bother to put up firewalls in the first place.

When attackers exploit a vulnerability on your system, they often send off command codes to a remote system. These commands will then try to gain access to the network by using various methods, causing a variety of problems.
Firewalls are also one of the most difficult things to fix on a new system. These systems are designed to block data and programs that are deemed to be harmful, whereas an open firewall can allow all kinds of data to get through, including data that may be harmful. You need to consider the kind of firewall you have and what the pros and cons are of have that firewall upgraded.
You need to determine which user groups are allowed to connect to the internet and what domains are allowed. By knowing this information, you can decide if you want to upgrade your firewall or not. The disadvantage is that if you don’t do this, attackers can use these settings to get onto your network and have their malicious data sent to remote users.
As far as anti-virus software goes, you may want to upgrade to a more advanced one that not only can detect worms and Trojans, but can also provide more protection for your network. When you don’t have a firewall, attackers can easily enter your network without being detected.

IP-based firewalls are networks that have a point-to-point connection between your computers. This means that all data gets passed through the firewall, but the location of the network is not limited to a specific IP address.
